FAQ
What is BIGGER.twitter
We are what we say on the URL, sort of. We aren't a twitter clone, or a website in competition with twitter, but what we are could be classed as an "add-on". We offer you the ability to post messages to twitter which are much longer than the limit of 140 characters. Admittedly this goes against twitters idea of "micro-blogging". But, don't you find it utterly annoying when you want to post a message, but it is maybe 5 characters too long. You have to then either forget it, or start trying to get rid of parts, so it end up been shrtnd lke a txt msg.
How does it work?
Simple really, you enter your twitter username & password on the Post Status page, then your message, and click Update. Just like the real thing! We do not store your twitter password; it is simply used to post the link back to the bigger message on twitter, which is stored in our database.
What data do you store?
As stated above your password is not stored in our database, but we do keep small pieces of information (don't worry - it's nothing that isn't available publicly anyway). When your shortened "tweet" is posted twitter then return's some small pieces of information back to us, in order to confirm that it was successfully posted. These are simply details from your profile (name, user id, twitter name) and information about the tweet (tweet id, message content, full message). This is then stored in order to re-generate your profile & status pages, when a user clicks a link to your bigger tweet. There's no need to worry, we will never release any of this data.
Why do my bigger tweets not appear in the timeline?
Only the most recent bigger tweets are listed in the timeline, so yours should appear there. If not you should check if your twitter profile is set to private, as this is used to decide who's tweets are displayed - basically if you have a private twitter profile, your bigger tweet's will be private too, the only method of accessing them being through the link in your twitter profile.
